An evening of experimental film and sound will be held in Screen 3 of Aberdeen’s Belmont Picturehouse.  A new series of audio-visual shorts titled Orphans by composer Ross Whyte will be showcased.  The films are constructed using only “found” materials such as daguerreotype photographs, public information announcements and so-called “orphan” films.  The sounds are similarly sourced, and include skipping CDs, microphone distortion and mobile phone interference.  All elements are recontextualised and presented as new intermedia.

Following the showcase, there will be a screening of new audio-visual works by local artists including Stephen Morrison, Claire M Singer, Pete Stollery and Bill Thompson.
